BandMusic PDF Library preserves and shares band music from the Golden Age of the American Town Band. If you are looking for public domain music to play with your school band, community band or other group, you'll find it here–marches, waltzes, rags, theater music, cornet solos, trombone features, and much more.
Thanks to the band community the Library continues to grow. Vintage music in print is being donated. We continue to scan old music–we post both old and new editions each month. Friends of the library send missing pages, and volunteers create transposed parts for modern bands. It's this spirit of generosity that is making this heritage project truly 'The band library for musicians, by musicians!'
In this third edition of the web site we are trying to make the Library easier to browse and also easier to search. And, we continue to improve our catalog to help you find what you are looking for. Let us know how we can improve.

Wish List...
We have many good pieces that lack transposed parts for modern bands. They need a C Piccolo/Flute part transposed from the original Db Piccolo, and transposed F Horn parts from the original Eb Alto horns.

Disclaimer
These primary historical documents reflect the attitudes, perspectives, and beliefs of different times. Some of the music of this period features words, phrases, and portrayals that are offensive and demeaning. The Library does not endorse these expressions, but is making this music available in order to preserve the music and because we believe one cannot understand the past if one doesn't know what it was.
New in the Public Domain for 2019
On January 1st, 2019 all musical works first published in the United States in 1923 entered the public domain. Our first batch includes Sousa's Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Alford's Cavalry of the Clouds, and Edwin Franko Goldman's On the Mall. See the whole list: 1923 works for band →
This is the first group of works to enter the public domain in the U.S. in many years. (Read more.) Starting with 2019, the cutoff date for public domain music will advance one year each Jan. 1. From its beginning BandMusic PDF Library has been limited to works published up to 1922; we will now expand our range each year, too. If you have works for band published in 1923 (or earlier) that you are willing to scan and share, please contact us →
Search Option
As an experiment, you are welcome to try out an alternate search engine for BandMusic PDF Library. It searches all of the same music as our regular search. (You will need a modern, up-to-date web browser.) If you try it, please use the Contact Form to let us know what you think.
